TOUR OVERVIEW
Parallax(e): Perspectives on the Canada–U.S. Border looks at the 49th parallel, a line drawn on a map that cut across networks of kinship, trade, stewardship and cultural practice that had existed for generations. The exhibition asks what a border does to the people and the land it runs through.
The work centres Indigenous perspectives that are usually left out of the official story, including the Indigenous guides and mapmakers whose knowledge made the original survey possible. For students, it opens up questions of history, geography, and who gets to draw the lines. The full list of artists will be announced closer to the opening.
CHOOSING THIS TOUR
This tour asks: Who draws the line, and who has to live with it?
Kindergarten to Grade 5: Mapping places they know, and noticing what a map leaves out.
Grades 6 to 9: Borders, place names, and whose knowledge made the map.
Grades 10 to 12: Colonial boundary-making and Indigenous sovereignty across the 49th parallel.
ART ACTIVITY

TOUR DETAILS
• Cost: $6 per student
• Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
• Capacity: up to 30 students
BOOKING
All school tours are booked online. Bookings are confirmed by email within five business days and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
We ask for 48 hours’ notice to cancel a booking. A $45 fee applies to cancellations made after that point.
An invoice is issued within two weeks of your visit, based on the number of students who attended.
Exhibition dates are subject to change. If a change affects your booking we will let you know in advance and offer an alternative tour.
