Permanent Collection
September through to June
Throughout the Gallery
TOUR OVERVIEW
The Kelowna Art Gallery’s permanent collection holds close to 1,000 artworks, with the larger sculptural pieces on view year-round. This tour takes students to the works they might otherwise walk past, from enormous woven bells and vessels to laser-cut steel cars.
Because it runs all year, it is a reliable option for classes booking outside the exhibition windows.
CHOOSING THIS TOUR
This tour asks: Who decides what belongs in a gallery?
Kindergarten to Grade 5: Choosing favourites and saying why.
Grades 6 to 9: Curating. What goes with what, and what gets left out.
Grades 10 to 12: Collections, authority and representation.
ART ACTIVITY
Students curate and design their own exhibition from a group of works in the collection, deciding what goes together and why.
