We’re Solarpunk because the only other options are denial or despair.

Creative Growth Centre for Spiritual Nourishment is a DIY, eco-utopian space. It uses automated plant systems and startup iconography to explore urgent ecological and economic crises. It’s a tongue-and-cheek appeal to freedom, tied down by cables, pipes, and its own foundation. For heat, power, and meaning, it relies on the building that encases it.

Visitors are welcome to enter the room, sit, work, and play. Using it as they would a scaled-down, shared co-operative space. This solarpunk-ecstacy-space will be perfectly equipped for ecological-disaster-fetish. An anarchist gesture grounded in capitalist greenwashing. A fruitful, exploited utopian dream.

Mat Glenn and Lucas Glenn are Kelowna-based interdisciplinary artists. As BFA graduates from UBC Okanagan, they have exhibited across BC and worked with collaborators internationally. Their sculptural, digital and site-specific works use regional identity, science-fiction and fantasy to address global crises.
