 Appetite_for_Art_2016_Doug_Alcock Doug Alcock
Black Tusk, 2015
steel and glass,
35 x 9 x 4 ¼ inches

Bid_Now_btn
There was a time in my youth when restless curiosity and playing with fire collided and that was the moment I realized blacksmithing would be a part of my future. While homesteading in the early 1970s that chord resonated once more, and having a need for specialized tools led me to books by the Renaissance man, Alex Weygers. His The Modern Blacksmith and The Making of Tools inspired me. Then followed many years of study, conferences, symposia, and mentors. Forging steel became a predominant vehicle for me and revealed my sculpture aesthetic. In a lifetime an individual goes through many periods of change and growth. These are reflected in the art that I create.
