Afterglow is a light-art installation by local artist Arianne Tubman. This work invites the viewer to indulge in their sense of curiosity, to come in close and experience a dream-like, hidden, glowing world. At its luminous core, a handmade lantern radiates light outward from within a papery sanctuary. Inspired by quiet moments of contemplation, such as watching the moon through a window, a streetlamp on a foggy night, or a flock of birds at dawn, Afterglow draws upon these private scenes of beauty and transforms them into a tranquil space to be shared.
Arianne Tubman is an emerging multidisciplinary artist based in Kelowna, British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia Okanagan (2021). Tubman’s artistic practice spans a diverse range of mediums and subjects, yet consistently centers around one core theme: human connection. She thoughtfully examines the ways we connect to our bodies, our memories, and one another. Through deliberate material choices and conceptual explorations, Tubman hopes viewers will pause, reflect, and engage with the stories told through her work.
