Getting to the Gallery
- Address: The Kelowna Art Gallery is located at 1315 Water Street, at the intersection of Water Street and Cawston Avenue.
- Accessible Entrance: Our main entrance is wheelchair accessible, featuring automatic doors and a large curb ramp at the front of the building for easy access from the street for wheelchairs and strollers.
- Car Parking: Accessible parking spaces are available on Water Street, though they are limited in number. Additionally, there is parking located across Crawford in the Prospera Place parking lot, or at the Library Parkade located at 1360 Ellis Street with many spaces.
- Bike Rack: A bike rack is available near the entrance. The path to the bike rack is paved, ensuring easy access.
- Public Transportation: The Gallery is accessible via public transportation options. Local bus routes have stops nearby, and all buses are wheelchair accessible. For door-to-door accessible service, please HandyDart the Handicapped transportation service in Kelowna at (250) 762-3278
Moving through the Gallery
- Exhibition Areas: The Gallery is on one floor, and the exhibition doorways and spaces are wheelchair accessible. Staff are available to assist with navigation if needed.
- Washrooms: We have three washrooms for public use; one men’s washroom with single stalls, one women’s washroom with single stalls, and one standalone gender-neutral washroom. All the washrooms are wheelchair accessible and equipped with safety grab bars. One washroom also includes a baby change table. Please note that the doors are not powered but have easy-to-use handles.
Accommodations When Visiting the Gallery
- Financial Accessibility: We offer free admission every Thursday, and the gallery is open until 8 PM. Students are granted free admission.
- Service Animals: Service animals are warmly welcomed throughout the Gallery. For their comfort, outdoor green spaces are available between the Art Gallery and the Rotary Center for The Arts. Please note that proof of certification may be requested to help us ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all visitors.
- Borrowing Accessibility Equipment: We offer a manual wheelchair, walker, and magnifying glasses at the front desk on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to book in advance.
