Seeing Red & White

Seeing Red & White Art Auction and Fundraiser
The Seeing Red & White Art Auction and Fundraiser is the Kelowna Art Gallery’s major fundraising event of the year. Established in 2003, first as Seeing Red, the event was created as a way to combine an art auction and fundraiser with the increasing fame of our region’s wine producers—particularly producers of red wine—and pairing this with a delicious meal . The name Seeing Red & White was adopted in 2004, with the inclusion of white wines.
While the food and wine are sublime, it is the art auction that is truly the focus of this fundraising event. Artists generously donate works that are auctioned during the evening – the proceeds from which support public programming initiatives and the permanent collection fund. The evening’s program also includes a champagne reception, musical entertainment, and a silent auction of non-art items donated by the business community and Gallery supporters. The Seeing Red & White Art Auction and Fundraiser has become one of Kelowna’s premiere cultural fundraising events.
In 2011 an exhibition featuring works by artists who have donated art to be auctioned at the event will be held from October 14-November 6, 2011. The exhibition will be installed in the Kelowna Art Gallery’s Front Project Space, and will be free to the public.
