Day Job

January 18 to March 2, 2014

Our upcoming exhibition Day Job features work of approximately twenty-five past and present staff members of Opus Framing and Art Supplies, Kelowna. Past employees now live across North America, and as far away as Israel and New Zealand. Everyone who has worked at Opus had some art background, and collectively they have created work in all media, from painting to film.

The title Day Job refers to the fact that most artists are employed in various other occupations to provide remuneration for their expensive art habits. Most artists who have worked at Opus would agree it has been one of their better day jobs. Opus is not just a retail store, it is a family, and they have formed life-long friendships with their fellow staff members.

Day Job is a celebration of Opus Kelowna’s 20-year anniversary of operations, and is being dedicated to the memory of the first manager of Opus Kelowna, Richard McClymont. Neena Sood is an artist who lives in Lake Country, and is a former employee of Opus.

Opening reception
Friday, January 17, 7 to 9 pm
This is a free event, open to members and guests by invitation.
