Artist-in-Residence
Program
Ian Johnston
March 21 – March 29, 2009
Repetition in art, as in
nature and marketing, is one of the most powerful means of making a
statement. A transformation in meaning when one multiplies even the most
ordinary everyday object is extraordinary and can be a very potent tool
for communication. During his residency, artist Ian Johnston will use
guitar strings collected over the last twelve years, and metal strapping
used in the shipping industry to explore the power of multiplication, when
combined with ordinary and not-so-ordinary disposable objects.
The public is invited to
drop by to speak with the artist.
