John Hartman: The Columbia in Canada

During two spring visits to south eastern British Columbia in 2010 and 2011, Ontario-based artist John Hartman began a series of watercolours from or near his car as he meandered about. He decided at some point to follow the path of the Columbia River, from its headwaters near Golden, BC, north and then turning south, where it eventually flows into the USA and the Pacific Ocean. This show will feature thirty of these works, all indentified by the artist as to specific locale. There is an accompanying catalogue with texts by Liz Wylie, the Kelowna Art Gallery’s curator, along with award-winning writer Sarah de Leeuw.

The exhibition will go on tour to several galleries in the south-eastern region of the province in 2013.
