Doug Biden: Visceral Allegories

Organized and circulated by the Burnaby Art Gallery
December 18, 2010 to January 30, 2011

Doug Biden was a highly talented and creative printmaker who died from pancreatic cancer in mid-career in 2007. He was an instructor at the University of British Columbia Okanagan in Kelowna who was well loved by his students and artist peers. The Kelowna Art Gallery is pleased and honoured to be bringing in this posthumous survey show of his work, organized by Darrin Martens at the Burnaby Art Gallery, with the help of Biden’s widow, Ingrid. The show comprises fifty-five works and is accompanied by a full-colour catalogue with an essay by Martens that explains the artist’s thinking in connection with each of his distinct series of works.
