GO Party 6

The Kelowna Art Gallery is pleased to announce our 6th GO Party! fundraiser on Friday, June 22, 2012, from 7 to 10 pm, entitled Illuminate.

Illuminate will officially kick off the Okanagan’s favorite season, while shining a light on the variety of exhibitions on view at the Gallery through the summer. The evening will feature three bars, a summer-themed buffet, door prizes and silent auction, a photo studio, access to four exhibitions, a hands-on art activity (lantern making), lawn bocce on the Arts Common, and musical entertainment by local recording artists Thomas Kjorven and Jeff Piattelli.

To celebrate the summer solstice, guests are invited to break out their bright colours and dress to impress – Okanagan summer style – think fun, sophisticated, cocktail-friendly beach and patio wear! Enjoy a variety of summer-themed cocktails on our patio, while celebrating light and art on the (second) longest night of the year!

This fundraising event coincides with the opening of the exhibition, Bearing Witness, on view at the Kelowna Art Gallery from June 23 to August 19, 2012. The exhibition features forty-one pieces by twenty-seven artists, including Pablo Picasso, Ken Lum, Ed Burtynsky, Leon Golub, and Nancy Spero. The over-arching theme is social issues, for example, war, injustice, oppressive regimes, and the perception and treatment of women. Bearing Witness is organized and circulated by the Vancouver Art Gallery, with the generous support of The Killy Foundation and Odlum Brown Limited.

Proceeds from this fundraising event will benefit the Gallery’s educational programming.

Tickets include two complimentary beverages, summer snack buffet, plus a ticket for the door prize draw.

Update: June 22, 9 am: Online ticket purchases of tickets to this event is no longer available. Please contact the Gallery at 250.762.2226 or visit us in person to purchase your tickets before 4pm today. Advance tickets are $20 for members, and $30 for non-members. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for an additional $10 per price category.
