Art Adventures 2018
Join us this summer for a creative and inspiring art adventure!
During the months of July and August, the Kelowna Art Gallery will be offering half-day and full-day art camps for children ages 3 to 12. As each week explores a different theme, young artists will learn about a variety of art materials, techniques, and approaches to making art. Camp instructors will encourage self expression and allow young artists to discover and create in a lively studio environment complemented by outdoor fun.
Preschool Camps ages 3-5

Camps for Children ages 6-8

Preschool Camp Costs: $90.00 ($75.00 for members)
Half-Day Camp Costs: $115.00 ($100.00 for members)
Full-Day Camp Costs: $160.00 ($145.00 for members)
* Four-day camps will be pro-rated
Class size is limited so that children receive one-on-one instruction in a friendly, non-competitive environment.

Art Adventures Camp Descriptions
July 3-6 (Preschool)
This week young artists will get the chance to create wild and wacky critters, both real and imaginary! Perfect for those who love nature, animals, dinosaurs and monsters.
Art Masters and Machines
July 9-13 (Ages 6-8)
This week will be based around the creative thinking, inventions, and work of master inventors worldwide. Young artists will get the chance to take on imaginative projects, making their own idea notebooks and inventions, just like those brilliant minds throughout history.
July 9-13 (Ages 9-12)
As young artists gather ideas from the great contemporary artists of the 20th century, this week will explore different methods and mediums of artmaking. From Warhol to Matisse, young artists will be influenced and inspired on their journey to create their own works of art.
Amazing Animal Art
July 16-20 (Preschool)
Mammals, birds, and fish, oh my! This week, young artists will explore all kinds of animals, through creating 2D and 3D work.
Adventures and Games
July 23-27 (Ages 6-8)
This week will focus on projects that encourage young artists to make their own interactive games and activities. Projects include board games, crafts inspired by video games, puzzles and other handmade creations.
Hit the Town
August 7-10 (Ages 6-8)
This week will explore downtown and the beautiful Cultural District that surrounds the Kelowna Art Gallery! In this 4-day camp, young artists will investigate and respond to the ways art exists within urban settings, such as in nature, public art, and architecture.
Comics and Graphic Novels
August 13-17 (Ages 9-12)
This week will be focused on the fundamentals of visual storytelling. Young artists will learn a variety of techniques in illustration, styles of comic book artwork, and a variety of other artistic mediums. By the end of camp, they will have gained the skills to make their own creative comic books.
Nature Around Us
August 13-17 (Preschool)
Whether it be up in the air, in the lake, or on the mountains, young artists will create art inspired by the creatures, activities, and natural beauty that exist within the unique Okanagan environment.
Journey of Art
August 20-24 (Preschool)
This week young artists will travel around the world with projects like hot air balloons, sailboats and spaceships! Art projects will also include homemade castles, treasure maps, and pirate flags.
August 20-24 (ages 6-8)
Think outside the box! This week, young artists will learn to work in untraditional mediums, such as sculpture, printmaking, and mixed media pieces with found objects. Art projects will be inspired by installations and public art, in and outside of the gallery.
Teen Summer Art Programs
Throughout the summer, the Kelowna Art Gallery offers many opportunities for youth ages 13 to 19 to explore and expand their creative practice. Instructors provide an open and supportive environment for students to learn a variety of techniques and develop their own personal style. Students will create a range of projects in drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Teen Art Week
This week-long art camp will provide students with a fun and educational art experience, creating projects that explore a range of artistic media while learning more about the Gallery’s exhibitions and permanent collection.
