Rose Braun
Missing
May 28 to November 30, 2009
Local artist Rose Braun’s installation of
mixed media works at our Kelowna Airport satellite exhibition space is
based on her thinking about the women missing from Vancouver’s downtown
eastside, most of whom are assumed to have been murdered at a pig farm
outside the city. She looks back nostalgically at the time when these
women were children, a time of innocence – using the motif of a
traditional class photograph, and of empty dresses as her imagery.
